Challenge
Kinship On Wheels was a meaningful grassroots mission with no cohesive visual identity. Volunteers, sponsors, and the young adults it served had no consistent way to recognize the foundation across flyers, shirts, and social posts — which limited trust, donations, and event turnout.
Research
I interviewed mentees, volunteers, and prospective sponsors, then audited nonprofit identities in the youth-mentorship space. Patterns emerged: the strongest brands felt warm and trustworthy, not corporate, and used a single iconic mark that read at any size — from lapel pin to event banner.
Strategy
- Establish a recognizable, dignified brand identity for the foundation
- Build program identities for Sponsor A Young Adult, volunteer recruitment, and community outreach
- Create reusable print and digital templates volunteers could deploy on their own
- Position the foundation as a sustained community presence, not a one-off campaign
Design Process
- Discovery workshops with founder + program leads
- Mood boards and typographic exploration (serif gravitas vs. modern sans warmth)
- Logo iterations — symbol, wordmark, and stacked lockups
- Color system rooted in purple, gold, black and white for brand kinship with Lavish Curiosity
- Template library: flyers, shirts, social tiles, sponsor decks
Final Deliverables
- Primary logo, secondary lockups, and favicon
- Sponsor A Young Adult campaign flyer (print + digital)
- Volunteer recruitment graphics and event flyers
- Apparel graphics for volunteer and event shirts
- Instagram, Facebook, and event social graphic templates
- Brand guidelines for consistent use across programs
Community Impact
The unified identity gave the foundation credibility with sponsors and made campaigns easier to launch. Sponsor outreach flyers became the most-shared piece of collateral, and the consistent visual language helped Kinship On Wheels show up as a serious, sustained community presence in Beaumont, TX.
